Zoo etiquette

No flash photography

Please set your digital camera to “no flash” mode to prevent the flash from going off.

No smoking

Smoking areas can be found at the Zoo Center, West Gate and rest houses. All other areas are non-smoking.
Thank you for understanding.

No pets (except for assistance dogs, such as seeing-eye dogs, hearing dogs and service dogs)

Family pets can host a variety of pathogens and parasites, many of which are potentially fatal to zoo animals.

Seeing unfamiliar animals can also cause the zoo animals great stress. We appreciate your understanding.

No tents

In the interest of safety, tents may not be used inside the zoo.  We appreciate your understanding.
We sincerely request your cooperation.

Beware of crows (keep an eye on your belongings and food)

Crows are very clever, and will take advantage of even a moment's inattention to steal food or belongings. They have also been seen dropping snack packaging and other litter into animal enclosures. Please take care to prevent crows from stealing your food or belongings.

Children who are suddenly frightened by crows can sometimes injure themselves. To prevent this, when visiting the zoo with young children, it is best to enjoy food in an indoor area such as a rest house.

Crows can even use their beaks to open some easy-to-open bags, so please pay attention to your belongings.

Crows are extremely intelligent, social animals with strong ties with their flock. And, because they are wild birds, we humans have no right to get rid of them. We should adjust our behavior where we can so that we can coexist with them in peace.

When watching animals, please be considerate towards small children and wheelchair users

At crowded locations, such as around popular animal enclosures, people with low vantage points, such as young children and wheelchair users, often have their view obstructed.  Please show consideration to those around you and make sure that everyone has a chance to see.
Particularly when taking photos or videos, please allow everyone to have their turn and avoid occupying the same spot for extended periods of time. Please refrain from using camera accessories such as tripods and monopods in crowded areas.

Please do not feed the animals!

Human food contains large amounts of salt, sugar and fats. Those can have a negative impact on animals' health if they are fed this food continuously.
In addition, since human food has a stronger taste, the animals may refuse to eat their regular forage later.
A good balance of calories and nutrition value is an important aspect of keeping the animals healthy, and we work hard to maintain it.
To keep the animals safe and healthy, we ask you not to feed them on your own.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

We work hard to make the zoo an enjoyable place for both the customers and the animals. Please help us by observing the rules.
When the animals are sleeping, please do not wake them up...
