In order to promote maternal and child health, the early detection and treatment of metabolic disorders and other physical and mental diseases or irregularities is of paramount importance. As part of the maternal and child health program in Sapporo City, a number of mass-screening programs have been implemented using both chemical and immuno-serological methods.
